KYC: Bybit has required identity verification across its products since 2023; any 'no-KYC on Bybit' advice you find is out of date. Security record (checked 17 Sep 2026): February 2025 remains the largest exchange theft on record: 401,346 ETH, about $1.46 billion, lifted out of an Ethereum cold wallet. Withdrawals kept running throughout. Bybit had the shortfall covered inside 72 hours, but it did that with emergency borrowing and OTC buying, not with money it already had spare — its pre-hack reserve cushion was roughly 6,300 ETH, under 2% of the hole.
